The Duomo, as in most Italian cities, is truly a sight to behold. Built in the 13th century, it is truly magnificent and you will see both on the exterior and interior the white, black and red marble, from which it was constructed. The amazing arches, pillars, stained glass and of course the Dome itself are truly a breathtaking sight on the inside, much of which dazzles the eye with its striped marble.

Elsewhere in the city, the Piazza del Campo is certainly worth a visit – it is the city’s main public area, allowing you to soak up some Italian atmosphere! Unusually and beautifully shaped, it is still to this day an important part of public life in Siena. The Fountain of Joy (Fonte Gaia) can be viewed here.

If you prefer to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while, enjoy the Botanical Garden of Siena (Orto Botanico dell'Università di Siena) where you can take pleasure in the many beautiful plants in tranquil surroundings, while remaining inside the city.
